One of our sister institutions has created a website with a URL that contains underscores (http://ncccs_bus_obj.ncccs.cc.nc.us) that several of our researchers must access. The httpd proxy refuses to forward the request and returns an error message stating that underscores are illegal.
I agree that they may be "bad form" and are seldom used but neither RFC1738 nor its replacement (RFC number eludes me) prohibit the use of "_" (so I don't think I can tell them to stuff their underscores!) I have searched the squid.conf for a switch for this behavior and find none that I think apply.
Any hints or suggestions on how to deal with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
