Mailserver

I want an mailserver in the DMZ. Is it then better to use the smtp-proxy or is it even possible? Is the mailserver then accesseble for clients from the internet(because that has to be). And the mailserver is also the mailserver for my LAN and i saw in the manual that there are only 25 smtp connections at the same time possible, isn't this a problem if you have 35 clients in the LAN and they use imap(i think imap has an constant connection to the mailserver).

    Hi jascha,

    our mailgateway is a virusscanning mail relay.
    You can use it to handle incoming and outgoing email with SMTP. If you want to use Astaro Security Linux as your SMTP gateway, make sure that the MX record points
    to the official address of your firewall.
    Configure the domains which will be accepted
    by your SMTP proxy. The last thing to do is
    to specify a SMTP route, means which server
    is responsible for your domain(s). In your
    case the IMAP Server which holds users 
    mailboxes. There is no need to configure 
    official addresses at your Server.

    The limitation of 25 simultaneous SMTP connects
    prevents your side of DoS attacks  [;)]
