Mailnotify: Controlling the behavior

Hello all out there (behind my Firewall:-)!

Where are the config files for qmail to change the behavior of the Mailnotify. When a mail cannot be delivered I get a reminder all hours. Once a day would be fairly enough. 

I keep searching in /var/chroot-smtp/ ... but maybe someone of you can help me more specific. Thanx for any help!

    Hello,
    Since version 2.x came out, the mailer daemon is more quiet. However I'd like to be able to configure the behavior in the following way:
    -during the first 4 hours: Notification each hour
    -during the next 20 hours: One Notification
    -during the following days: Notification each day
    -after 2 weeks the message can expire

    This fix I wish to have as custom patch or maybe enough peoples would like to have this configurable that an update of the frontend makes sense. Please, Astaro Technicians, give feedback to this post and tell us, what reasons stands for an update or for remaining whith the current behavior. Thanks a lot!

    I believe you can do all this using the cron daemon

    man cron

    man crontab (if the man pages exist)

    Using Cron to configure the behavior would be a solution. I'm not familiar enough with qmail and the ASL customizations to write the proper script for Cron. Maybe you or sombody else is experienced enough to do this job. Anyway, I still think that the default configuration is not meeting the customers request. Astaro guys, you'v got ten minutes to provide us with some info?
