SMTP Proxy - ARRRGGHH !

OK, here goes...

I can't for the life of me figure out how to set up my SMTP Proxy...do I even need one ? I have no internal mail server, I just want to be able to send external email to my ISP's mail server.

Right now when I try to send, I just get a msg from my mail client stating, "The SMTP server name you specified cannot be found."

DNS is configured properly, I can surf, ping, and trace route the SMTP mail server fine.

Help ! [:S]

Hy maddog,

did you made a rule allowing your PC
POP3 (incoming mail)and
SMTP (outgoing mail) ??

Thanks for the suggestion, but yes, I have those rules (the static ones) in place and enabled, and can POP no problem.

But this is strange : even when I enable ANY protocol in and out, I still get the same behaviour, which leads me to believe that it's a DNAT / SNAT issue, so I've posted in that forum as well.

Upgrade from 1.824 to 19.51 solved the problem.
