QMAIL retry timelimit

While configuring ASL, I noticed a bunch of emails that were supposed to go to the notification address failed after 1 hour.

As I'm using the qmail proxy, I'd like it to hold messages for more than 1 hour in case the internal mail server goes down. How can that limit be increased?
