Mail is being sent but none is being received

I've just switched to a new ISP and configured my ASG220 by adding a new interface on eth2. That way I could keep all my other settings - just in case!

Everything seems to be working normally, except that I'm not receiving any new mail, although sending is fine. 

I amended our DNS records last night and checked that the MX records have been updated and they appear to have. DNS does resolve correctly.

I'm using the SMTP proxy so there shouldn't be any packet filters or NAT to configure should there?

I've tried telneting to the SMTP port on my ASG, using the new IP address but get "Could not open connection to the host, on port 25: Connect failed." It does ping.

Any ideas what I'm not doing correctly please?

    Hi and welcome the the UBB,

    check your relay settings, you might find you have your old ISP's mail server set there. Also check your notification setup for the same changes.

    Hi hells mels, and welcome to the User BB!

    Usually, mail servers cache DNS information and don't change immediately.  The TTL on our FQDNs are four hours, but yours may be as long as a day.  In any case, those emails should have arrived after a day or less - did they?

    Normally, in your situation, I would have simply edited the IP of the FQDN of your MX record and left the original WAN interface connected as long as the connection to the ISP remained active.  The Astaro SMTP Proxy would have "listened" on both interfaces even though it was only sending over the new one (the one with a default gateway).
