Email Encryption via RED

Good Morning all :-)

I have an ASG 220 with Network Subscription and 3 RED connected in standard/split modus.

One of the key-features of the Mail Subscription for us is the automatic E-Mail Encryption via the ASG.

When we subscribe the Mail Subscription, is it right that also the Users/Devices behind the RED in the RemoteOffices take benefit of this feature without configuring anything on the client-side?

And if i understand it correctly - it doesn´t matter which e-mail service (own mail server, gmx mail server...). Of corse i have to import the key-pairs for every email account on the main ASG 220 - right?

Hi, Lars, and welcome to the User BB!

Encryption can work with an internal or external server.  The MX record for your domain must point at the Astaro and your mail server must use the Astaro as its smarthost.

Yes, you do need to configure each user for whom you want to use encryption.  If you already have PGP keys for the users, you can use them.  If you don't, the Astaro can generate them, or you can use the certificates the Astaro creates when a local user is created.  If you have Active Directory, you can cause the users to be auto-created.

thanks for your explanations!

Ok so far - i need to define my Astaro as smart host for my e-Mail server.

But does it also work for all the people behind a RED using Outlook or Thunderbird for E-Mail checking? The encryption/decryption runs on the main ASG - and the distance between ASG and RED is also encrypted - so that would be the solution for securing E-Mails - am i right?
