Exchange server outside network problems

Hi, this doesnt really relate to Astaro directly but im having issues connecting up some Outlook clients to an External Exchange server. We have our network domain set as our email domain i.e. domain.com with emails like sales@domain.com. We have setup a CNAME record on our internal DNS server which is autodiscover.domain.com. However, the Outlook clients are getting confused and instead of following the CNAME to the external server they end up timing out. It tries https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodisover/autodiscover.xml, which fails with the Astaro log showing the attempts as blocked and as "Connection timed out". I know that this works outside our current network as users can download emails. Its obivously conflicting with the internal domain but im unsure how to fix this problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Yeah, I agree, it's an internal name resolution problem.  Since you're using the HTTP/S Proxy in a Standard mode, try adding a 'Static Entry' in Astaro DNS for the FQDN that people use externally, and point it directly at the external IP.

Also, you might want to consult DNS Best Practice.
