POP3 Proxy Failing

On my machine I have 2 different email clients that connect to different servers.  Both will not connect with the pop3 proxy on.  If I try to telent to the mail server I get the same errors.  I have tried adding the mail servers to the "POP3-Advance" tab but same results.  Brand new install of version 8.201.

Turn the proxy off and everything works great.


Any help would be great.

    Are these two clients in the network specified in the allowed networks list for the proxy?

    Yes they fall into the allowed list.  I am running a simple /24 network and the "Network security - Firewall" email rule is correct for my network.  I am still using the defaults from the install.  SMTP outbound does work.

    Here is a snippet from the log files


    2011:10:02-17:46:53 Proxy pop3proxy[22300]: Accepted client connection from 192.168.1.101 for 69.145.248.18 (mail.bresnan.net Servers server_id 4)

    What client are you using?  What ports are set in the client?

    MS Live mail and Outlook 2010.  Both are using the default port of pop3 (110).

    If i telent to the mail server with proxy on I get the same error's as the mail clients.  Proxy off telnet and mail clients work perfect.  

    My server has an internal (lan) and external (wan) nics. Straight pass through works it just when I kick on the proxy I run into problems.

    Pretty simple setup.  Router eth0 to eth0 (wan). Lan (eth1) to cisco 2950 switch.

    Please show a picture of your 'POP3 servers and prefetch settings' on the POP3 Advanced tab.

    Here you go.  Prefetch is currently off, but I tried both ways.

    That looks right.  How about the lines from the Astaro POP3 log file when you try to retrieve mail?

    While we're at it, if you use prefetch, the email name configured in your client must match exactly to the one in the User Portal.  Prefetch is activated for a user after the first time the user fetches mail via the configured proxy.

    here is the log after trying with outlook.  Does the email have to be in the Astaro system for it to work?  IE a user with said email address?

    On a side note I noticed 9 smtp emails sitting in the queue. Seen in mail manager
