Spam Filter cannot query database servers

I'm getting notifications from my ASG that it can not query Spam Filter Database Servers. I'm not sure why. Do I have to create a firewall for my ASG to access the filters? Right now I don't have a firewall rule that allows Web Surfing traffic because I want to force all traffic through the Web Proxy. ANy idea what to do? Thanks in advance.

Usually it is caused by your link failing or DNS not responding in time when the ASG makes the request.

I haven't gotten any more notifications since yesterday so perhaps it's okay now.
