Deleting many mails in queue with Mail Manager

Hi,

we've generated a lot of mails that are now inside the mail queue. I'd like to delete them. For now, I know about two ways - which is better?

1. Using the Mail Manager I can filter very good for that mails. There are around 800,000 at the end. Can I use the global cleanup function inside the Mail Manager to delete ONLY the filtered mail or does it delete all (ignoring the filter settings)?

2. Use the shell. I know, the files are in /var/storage/chroot-smtp/spool/input/input. Can I delete the files there? What would be the best way to remove specific files there (grep)?

Thanks for any answer. I only found answers with "call support", but I don't have that support.

The Global Cleanup option does not take into account any viewing filters that you've set. Your best bet, if possible, is to wait until you don't have any valid emails left in the queue, then delete everything using the global cleanup. This will clear both the raw emails and the database entries. Otherwise, just clear the files from the shell using grep.

Hi Scott,

thanks for the response. Do you have an idea how to grep here? There are too many files to scan the directory and so it's difficult to make a successful grep.

To search for a word or phrase in all files within the current directory, it would be something like:
grep -i "bad stuff" *
You can run grep --help from the shell to see instructions on grep usage.
