What does the ‘upstream hosts/network’ option really do?

Hello everybody!

Can anyone explain to us, which security checks are skipped by putting a server to the upstream hosts list? Is this a kind of whitelist allowing all mails coming through upstream hosts without further spam checks? Or does it just strip off the last envelope header and performing anti-spam checks against the second to from headers?

Thank you.
Samy

Based on my experience, I think that's how it works, but I would welcome a confirmation from Astaro!
