Webmail throuhg ASG 7.510

hi ,


I host my own emails for my small company, and am running MDAEMON server 11.0.3, this means that my staff cant access emails when they are outside the office unless i forward then to their personal emails.

lately i configured webmail (worldclient) access but i ahve not been able so configure ASG to allow that when the staff are not within the LAN to be able to access the emails.

Kindly help and explain how i can configre astaro to allow that and alsohow i can seal all loop holes to avoid insecurity. I normall use smtp to receive my emails

    Don't worry John,

    it's very simple to do.
    First of all, I think you have enabled the SSL on your webmail...
    Second, you need to have the external ASG interface with a public IP address or, if  behind a "natting" router, you need that all traffic is forwarded to your external ASG interface... 

    After that, go to "Network Security" -> "NAT".
    Then choose "DNAT/SNAT" tab and create a new NAT rule with this settings:

    Traffic source: any
    Traffic service: https
    Traffic destination: 
    Nat mode: DNAT
    Destination: 
    Destination service: 

    FInally select the "Automatic Packet filter rule" and save.
    Then check that this new rule is active, if not turn it on.

    Try to access to your webmail from another Internet access: https://

    Let me know.

    it depends only on the MDaemon webmail...
    Remaind to keep always the MDaemon upgraded so you can reduce the possiblity of security holes.

    If you want to do a step forward (but I don't know if you have the WAF license) you can enable also the reverse proxy in front of the webmail.
    In this way you can use the Astaro certificate to terminate the SSL session in front of the firewall.
    Then the ASG can analyze/filter the webmail traffic and then forward to the MDaemon.
    Obviously it is all transparent for the end user.

    ...sorry, I forgot, if you want to use WAF you must upgrade your firewall to v.8....
