Traffic Shaper on outgoing emails?

hi forum,

ASG220 with exchange 2003 behind. mail security activated - everything is fine, except when a newsletter is send out. the mails are in the SMTP spooler on the ASG and delivery is in process - this cuts down the complete internet traffic, meaning that even opening a website is not possible anymore. 
the uplink is on it's limit (512kbit/sec)

is there a possibility to shape down the traffic, e.g. that outgoing mails from the ASG must not take more than 256kbit/sec, so that surfing is still possible while mails are delivered?

if so (and i think there should be something like that) it would be great if someone gives my guidance.

    if he turns on the upload optimizer in auto qos atnot.it automatically takes care of acks and dns and whatnot.  My setup(with the max upstream checked an for the qos rule  specified) dooes exactly what he is after.  I'm not at a place to get to any of my astaros but your way let's smtp take everything which is not what he wants.  I have another one where I have minimums seto for multiple things with no maxes and that then allows full use of bandwidth without any one thing able to monopolize the connection.  in myh first case I don't want smtp tp ever take more than 256k....on my other one they all have guarenteed floors with a floating ceiling.  Both are valid and both work very well without creating contention problems...I will detail my smtp restricted settings after I get back to the offikce tonight
