Anti-Virus Scanning corrupts excel attachment

Hi,

I am having problem with mail security AV scanning. Astaro adds AV footer to the attached Excel File directly instead of the mail body. So the file become unreadible. If I open it with excel all cells are corrupted but at the bottom I see "this mail scanned by bla bla" footer signature of astaro. Also with a text editor I can clearly read the signature of astaro.

This only happened for a specific mail. We requested the sender to send it again but astaro corrupted it again. But I tried many different excel files, no problem at all. Nothing corrupted.

I can upload corrupted file and the mail header if it helps.

PS: Is there a way to recover the execl file? Can I open the file with a hex edtor and delete astaro footer? Should it work or the damage can not be undone?

EDIT: Also how can I add exception for a doman in mail security? Should this work: "*@mydomain\.com"

I agree with lkar, it sounds like the person is using a broken email client that assembles the Excel file incorrectly into the email. What happens if the user sends the email in 'Plain text' format instead of HTML or other (or vice versa)?

I agree with lkar, it sounds like the person is using a broken email client that assembles the Excel file incorrectly into the email. What happens if the user sends the email in 'Plain text' format instead of HTML or other (or vice versa)?

Yes I looked the incomming broken mails as plain text direcly in postfix maildir. The last mail came from the same sender was OK. Becouse the last mail had some text in mail body as oposite of broken ones. I agree that it seems the sender has some problem with the mail client. As I tried many things like sending mails with attachments and with empty body via from gmail, hotmail etc. All that seemed OK. As the sender was a goverment organisation, they wre not very helpful to help to test what is wrong with them [:)]

I send all headers including broken and correct ones our astaro support consultant
and leave the exception active.
