Astro, exchange, ad combination failing

Hi,

I been messing with this for hours now and im just going in loops, so i need some help :-)

I have a small test network, 1 DC/AD, 1 echange 2010, 1 astaro firewall. Mail is comming into the astaro and then send to the exchange server. I have created an active directory and when i run the tests it works just fine. with smtp settings i have set it to use the active directory for receipient verification. However whenever i send a mail to a user in the domain it gets bounced with "530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated".  This error is coming from the exchange server im sure, and whenever i google on this error they all say i have to enable Anonymous mode in the hub transport settings. This works, but then it doesnt check anything anymore and it will allow mails from non-excisting email addresses aswell. 

Am i forgetting something ?

    If it works with 'Very recipients' set to "With callout", then don't bother with the "In Active Directory" setting.

    Seconded. While active directory is an interesting way of approaching the problem, callout is simpler & easier. To my understanding it uses smtp to verify the recipient so if that doesn't work your email server is most likely down and you have bigger problems then possible spam.
