Enabling smtp proxy causes all sent mails to fall in spam

Maybe google marked our domain as a spam source?

I believe that is the case.

But I want the pop3 traffic to flow via astaro. 

The Astaro POP3 Proxy is a "client" proxy - it protects emails coming from the POP3 server, not emails received by it.  There may be a way to have Astaro do some protection for you.  Is this mail server Exchange also doing POP3?

Well I wanted to test if this is the case so I disabled all mail security in astaro and fixed mx records to point the mail server. Our mails no longer fell to spam in gmail. So it is seems its really my astaros config.


Our mail server is postfix+dovecot for smtp, pop3 and imap. But I see your point. So the best aproach seems to me is just split the names as smtp.artvin.edu.tr, pop3.artvin.edu.tr instead of using posta.artvin.edu.tr. Our webmail also runs on the same machine with mail server. If astraro is scanning all incomming and outgoing mail traffic with smtp proxy,  there is no need to bother with webmail pop3 client.

Altough I have learned a lot about the basics of the mailing stuff, I am at the beginning now: With smtp proxy we have a serious spam problem.

as a summary here are the last configs:

           SMTP proxy simple mode -> enabled
           Advanced Settings -> Smpt Host name = posta.artvin.edu.tr which points to astaro's ip
           Host Based Relay -> posta.artvin.edu.tr
           Host Lists -> posta.artvin.edu.tr
           In Postfix configuration -> relayhosts = "astaros ip" (for smarthost config)
           posta.artvin.edu.tr also resolves to astaros ip and astaros ip resolves to posta.artvin.edu.tr via RDNS query.

If I understand correctly this config should work but in practice its not.

All mail security disabled and mx record reverted back now as it doesn't work as expected. Until I can fix it.
