Greylisting causing relay denied bounce at senders server

we have a number of customers using astaro for antispam and we have just come accross a problem - the senders emails reaches the astaro gateway which in turns sends the 'temporary local problem' message back.

Instead of the senders server trying to send the message again it generates an ndr

'The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.

Any ideas?

  • Ah-hah!  Of course!  Thanks for posting what you found!  I don't think that's the right thing for the sender's server to do, but at least it's now clear where the phantom response came from!

    Cheers - Bob
