Spool timeout

Hello,
does anyone knows for how many days the messages are stored in spool before an NDR is generated? I plan to shutdown my smtp server for some days I would like to know if the messages will be bounced or not.

I just looked in my spool, because I know there's been a message in there for a few days, trying to reach an unreachable smtp server (user typoed address). The spooler gave up and bounced it back to the sender after 3 days, so the answer your looking for is 72 hours. [:)]
