Hello Everyone,
I have installed an ASG120 on a customer site because they had some serious network problems.
The windows-clients are configured with POP3 over the internet and so i had to set up the smtp proxy accordingly.
I was right: One of the clients was sending thousands of spam mails a day!
Unfortunately I did not check the logs immediately and so the queues began to fill up (the provider blocked the mail transfer). As soon as i recognized the problem I put the subject of the mass mails on the expression blacklist. It took me some time to clean the client of the malware (no Antivirus could find it). Finally i put the whole client on the proxy blacklist.
The problem now is, that all of these mails have accumulated in the Quarantine and the CPU of the ASG runs constantly at 100%. Even if i turn off the smtp-proxy completely the queue continues filling up. Currently there are 81000 mails in there. The feature 'Delete Everything' in the Mail manager does not do anything. Every mouseclick takes seconds to complete. Even a reboot of the ASG does not change anything about it nor does the flush database log button in the configuration.
The limit for quarantined mail keeping is set to 1 day, but they keep appearing in the list...
How can I get rid of these quarantined messages?
kr, Chris
