Mercury mail server

Hi All

I recently bought a domain and I am about to set up my personal mail server using Mercury. Has anyone used Mercury before?Are there any tips you want to share with a mail server newbie?

PS for anyone who wants to use Mercury,I 've found a good tutorial here

    I actually had a different drink in mind. It's called "Raki"..mush stronger[[;)]]


    I will give the Mercury program a try tonight.Fingers crossed, it will work [:)]

    On the other hand MDaemon for mail server is free for SOHO environment

    A Turkish friend said we drank some Raki together.  I wish I could remember that... [;)]

    utm_kid was asking about setting up a mail server inside his home network.  You might post your experience here for him and others wanting to use the Astaro SMTP Proxy instead of just POP3.

    I think it will be really beneficial to share knowledge on SOHO mail servers and newbie will learn how to use Astaro SMTP proxy (and then encryption certificate strip will properly work [:)])

    I've setup my internal mail server and I am about to test it but I have couple of questions:

    The steps I've taken are:

    1)set up internal mail server (172.16.1.x) (I've used the SOHO version of MDaemon)
    2)Configure ASG with the following:
       a)Under the SMTP section add the following:
              Relaying tab>>>"host-based relay" section-> You set the ip of the internal mail            server (172.16.1.x)
              Routing tab>>>"domains" section-> set the domain w.w.example.com
                                 "Host list" section->ip of the internal mail server (172.16.1.x)
             Advanced tab>>> Smarthost  ?
       b) Network Security>>>Intrusion Prevention->Advanced-Set the internal mail server   under the "SMTP Servers" section

    I am confused on the setting on the following areas:
    1)I know I should use a smarthost but I am not sure what the setting should be? (I used to have a smtp mail server which all different pop accounts were using to send emails to the outside world)
    2)Do I need to configure the "Upstream Host list" and the "authentication relay"? (I used to specify my smtp mail servers for my various pop accounts along with the authentication )
