Country Code RBLs

People wishing to just stop email by country can do this now using RBLs. Just google for country code rbl and you should find a few hints.
 
Has anyone used this successfullly?

    A general (not specific to Astaro) warning:
    If an RBL is down or unreachable, your mail system may stop accepting mail, or slow down dramatically.

    Sendmail has options for whether to continue accepting mail or not, as well as timeout settings for how long to try.
    I don't know what Astaro's SMTP proxy does in this situation.

    I personally use spamhaus and spamcop RBLs in Sendmail (with it set to fail-open) and have not had any problems, but afaik neither offer country-based blocking.

    I've posted here before about creating network definitions in Astaro for regions or countries (to use in PacketFilter rules), but it's a lot of work.
    Not sure if the PacketFilter would block things coming into the SMTP proxy though.

    Hi Barry,

    I am running a Fedora based system with Sendmail and MailScanner and have twice been burned by RBLS being turned off and subsequently causing all my incoming emails to bounce.  I see in the message prior to this one you said there is a fail-open option that can be used to keep this from happening.  Can you point me to further information on how to use this?  I did a google search and couldn't really find any information on how to use this option.
