POP3-Check: Is there a way to turn of user-notification of quarantined spam mails?

If you get a message each time a mail has been quarantined then your prefetch configuration isn't correct. Did you enter the hostname of your pop3 server in POP3->Advanced?

yes. I entered several pop3 servers and activated pop3 prefetching. I'm using the pop3 scanning for the first time now and it collects about 1500 mails per server and it generates an "email blocked" message for each quarantined spam-mail.

Also I have configured a manual expression filter in "anti-spam". Could it have to do something with that?

Krycek, what do you see when you look at your personal quarantine in the End User Portal?

tons of (confirmed) spam-mails.... just as in the smtp quarantine.

I'm with frickler; it's gotta be an incorrect email address in your Astaro User definition in 'Users >> Users'.

Well even if that's the case... where do those notification mails come from?!

Now that all messages have been collected from the server there hasn't been another email notification. I'll watch it and report.

I think that if the Astaro doesn't see your email address listed in one of the user accounts, it assumes you don't get a quarantine report.  If you don't receive a quarantine report, then it thinks you need to be told as each email is quarantined.

At least, that's how I've understood it.

well if that's the case it really needs a button that tells it not to send any notification. I'm not even sending out daily quarantine reports.

So, frickler, are you saying that turning pre-fetch on and making sure there's an email address in the Astaro User definition is all that's needed to turn off individual quarantine alerts for that email address?  That no individual alerts are sent even if the quarantine report is configured to except the address when sending quarantine reports?

No, the user definition has nothing to do with pop3. In prefetch mode you won't get "email blocked" messages for known servers. If quarantine report is disabled, you can still access quarantined mails via user portal.

So, you are confirming that Krycek has found a bug and has no mis-configuration?

PS I admit that we've avoided selling and installing Email Security for POP3 configurations because of the disasters with early releases of V5.

I can't say for sure but I guess it had to do something with:

POP3 server not known to the proxy
If a mail gets caught, the proxy replaces it with a notification right away in the same connection. The quarantined mail can be viewed in mail manager, but is not associated to a server or account and therefor can't be released in a later connection.

I didn't configure the prefetch mode before activating the proxy so I guess it must have started to do it's thing before that and generated all those notifications.
Now, that everything is set up i don't get any notifications anymore and it seems to work as I'd expect it.

PS: Someone write better help files and how things work in astaro. If I had read that article, frickler wrote about how pop3 works in astaro (http://www.astaro.org/108015-post18.html) I would have concluded earlier as to what happened.
