email alert when blocked/malformed email received.

Hi;

We havee a site currently not using the Astaro ASG, and they are looking to purchase. They have one question left that we don't have a direct answer for and that is;

Does the Astaro ASG send an email alert when an email is received that is malformed. 

If not is there a way with the current version (7.401) to implement this type of request. Also if it isn't in the current version what is the process to get this added.

    Hi Trevor,

    what exactly do you mean by malformed? The AMG has several options for notifications.

    At our site recipients are notified if a message has been move to quarantaine. The recipient is not notified if a message has been dropped because of viruses or confirmed spam. E.g. I choose to allow the release of any message except messages containing malware.

    If a message has been moved to quarantaine, the user is able to release it by himself by logging into the AMG user portal, if you should configure it that way.

    Also, Mail Security will likely classify as "confirmed" spam an email with a suspiciously constructed header.  Normally, like budy explains above, most sites choose to not quarantine confirmed spam, so they would have no email alert of this.

    The Mail Manager has an 'SMTP Log' that lets the user see which emails were rejected and the reasons for rejection; "malformed email" is not one of the categories.

    I'm curious why they would even ask this question; weren't all of these kinds of exploits dealt with years ago?
