If you have an internal Exchange server, you only need to set up the SMTP Proxy.  If you use an external server, you also need to set up the POP3 proxy to have inbound emails checked.

It is important that the email address used in Outlook Express, the Astaro User Definition and the POP3 User Portal definition are all precisely identical.  I recommend the use of all lowercase characters because the Astaro's been picky in the past.

Sorry Sir ,another question is it possible to add virus scan message even after i am sending mails from my outlook trough astaro server /or is it possible to scan all message and add mime type /file size limit from mail send and recive ! (is it possible to put stamp while sending mail)

Yes, if you enable and configure the SMTP Proxy correctly.  On the 'Relaying' tab, fill in the 'Authenticated relay' section and check 'Scan relayed (outgoing) messages' at the bottom.  I think that should do it. Someone else might know about the mime type and file size checks.

in order to get it to send out the messages I had to enter information for the smarthost setting in the Advanced tab.  If I didn't they would get spooled and never relayed to my ISP's smtp server.  I don't think you have to do this if your ISP doesn't require logging in.  gmail does require logging in and an ssl connection.

Right, I have tried it with gmail, and the message never left the Astaro; I don't remember exactly, but I think it was because gmail sent from my Astaro failed the receiver's spf check.  I had thought about the smarthost approach to resolve that, but discarded it for the very reason you mentioned.

I can't think of any good use for this approach other than inserting the Astaro's outbound virus scan and encryption options into the regular flow of a company's email when they host email with an ISP.  Is there any other situation where it would be advised?
