n00b Question on the Email Proxy

Installing the a demo license to try out the mail security on an existing install. Currently my mail server has a dedicated IP that is different from the outside internace IP and i'm using NAT to map the outside address to inside.

I've configured via the steps in the admin pdf and when email hits the ASG, its port forwarded directly to the mail server, by passing the proxy. My question is, given my config and having the domain and static host listed in the mail routing tab correctly, how does the proxy know to listen on the non-interface IP address?

  • I understand that you have  DNAT rule for port 25 that forwards to your internal mail server.  If that is already working, then you only need to configure the SMTP Proxy correctly, and it will intercept all port 25 traffic passing through the Astaro.
