I just updated from ASG 7.202 to 7.301
I have quite a lot of entries under
SMTP / Anti-Virus / Blocked file extensions
among others, I've entered pps, ppt, exe and pif.
But I since updating to v7.301, I can send mails with attached exe- and pif- files. They are no longer blocked!
I've also activated the options
Quarantine audio/video/executable content
and added the mime-type "application/mspowerpoint" to the list of additional types to quarantine, but that doesn't help either.
How does "MIME type filter" work, anyway? When activating "Quarantine video content", I did quarantine mpe, mpg, mpeg and avi, but not wmv, mov, qt or rm. Does it rely on the sending mail-client to correctly declare the mime-type?
[update]: After some superficial testing, it seems like my webmail-provider sends mov, qt, rm, ppt and pif-files with mime-type "application/octet-stream". Zip-files are marked as "application/zip"
[update2]: Correction: wmv-files are quarantined. At least when I send them with my ISP's webmail-interface, they're marked as mime-type "video/x-ms-wmv" and they are recognized as wmv-files by ASG 7.301.
