This is not necessarily an Astaro-only question, but here goes...
I handle mail for approximately 25 domains using CommuniGate Pro. I am in the process of planning an Astaro v6 to v7 upgrade for the box in front of it (we already have one box upgraded, located in a separate office). Naturally, I want to take advantage of the end-user portal features of the system, so I'm working on getting LDAP auth working against CGP (another story altogether).
Looking at my mail accounts under CGP, I have a number of recipient groups (GroupWise calls these "distribution lists," for those who may be unfamiliar with CommuniGate's terminology). Essentially, these are one-way mailing lists, such as:
department@mydomain
which would then - at the server side - distribute to:
bob@mydomain
ted@mydomain
alice@mydomain
etc.
Now, thinking about the end-user portal as a spamtrap frontend, I'm thinking that the only thing I can logically do is create the group address as an alias for one of the recipients' Astaro account, and let that user then be responsible for releasing any spam which hits the group. The group address itself does not have a password, as it does not exist as a user under CGP, at all.
Alternatively, I could create a separate user account under Astaro for the group, and distribute a password to all members of the group, but this seems tedious, especially when there are multiple groups such as this (people would have to check multiple spam traps).
Are there any better ideas out there?
