Relaying question - Exchange server

Hi

I have a 2003 exchange server behind my ASG7.
My astaro is not integrated in the domain.
I have DNAT'ed SMTP from external address to the internal exchange server.

I have set the SMTP proxy to allow relay on:
 - internal network
 - guest network
 - external address ** (I had to enable it to be able to recieve mail) ?why?

Content Filter rules for the exchange:
 - Internal network --> Any --> Any --> Allow
 - Any --> Exchange server --> "email messaging group" --> Allow


So the question is - is my config correct? 
I am having second thoughts about the external address relay, allow-rule.

    There are 2 ways to configure the astaro to allow smtp traffic to your mail server. One option is to not use the smtp proxy at all. For this you would configure a DNAT rule for the traffic and also create a packet filter rule to allow the traffic to the internal exchange server or use the automatic packet filter rule created by the DNAT. You will also need to create a packet filter rule to allow the exchange server to send smtp traffic out.

    The other option is to setup the smtp proxy to filter your mail, no packet filter or dnat rules are necessary if you are using the smtp proxy. For this method you would enable the smtp proxy and put in your domain and add exchange server and then add the exchange server to the allowed relays list.

    That second option made sense - and it actually worked when I tryed it now.
    Earlier today I could not make it work, with only the exchange server in the relay list..

    Must have been a coincidential delay on the web, perhaps.
