SMTP proxy profiles behaving oddly

Guess I'm partly able to answer my own question here...[8-)] 
Apparantly, I've been not paying attention to the name of the first per domain profile, which was originally called "default profile".
Before I renamed it.
Astaro will not win any prizes on web user interface, if I were in the jury...
The help HTML pages are kinda confusion about it as well"

"The SMTP proxy of Astaro Security Gateway lets you create alternative SMTP profiles, which can then be associated with different domains. That way you can specify domains that should use a different profile other than the default profile."

OK, nice, but this can be interpreted in a number of ways. What is a "different" domain here, one not in the global list - or the first default profile?
Impossible, because removing one from the first (default ) profile, removes it from the global list.
OK, what about a second profile, with a different domain not in the default profile, will it be in the global settings? I checked. No, it doesn't.
Will it be routed? I checked. No it won't.

Maybe this is all very simple for you firewall guru's here, but this interface really annoys me. There is no way to specify if I want to route any subdomain... why? What's the default behaviour, why isn't Astaro documenting this?
I had this perfectly configured in ASL 6, and I am not able to duplicate this setup in ASL 7. If the upate scripts from ASL6 to 7 cannot do this, it makes me wonder....

Please help.

I think that the current setup is very confusing, not everything that is in the global options seems to be over-ridable in the per domain settings.

Take for example "Use heuristic spam filter" or "spam marker" text or "perform spam url check" why are these settings not mentioned in the individual domain profiles ? or Anti-Virus check footer.

it would be better if all the settings in the 2 global tabs were moved in to ther per domain settings and then you would clearly know which settings are going to apply to which domain.

What do you guys think?

No replies from any one? are we the only two who find this confusing? I know my reseller said it was confusing too and that he could not quite get his head around them.

You could setup these settings in "per-domain profiles". Anti-Virus check footer is a know issue.

I have actually set up the individual parameters in per-domain profiles, the issue is that not all the settings available in the global tabs are available within the per-domain profile to over-ride the global values.

for instance you cannot turn off the "hueristic spam filter" on a specific per-domain profile or "perform spam url check".

so that just leaves the spam marker text and antivirus text that you cannot independantly control.

I still think it would be more sensible to move all these settings in to the per domain section and then it would make it a lot clearer what settings will take effect per-domain.
