[V7.008] Changes of mail headers Spam Report

Hi all,

I just found out that my mail headers are changed! Or better set a different "notification" is set. In version V7.006 I saw the following (the mail I send to another person) :

X-cff-SpamScore: -1.4(/)
X-cff-SpamReport: ----- ----- -1.4 ALL_TRUSTED Passed through trusted hosts only via SMTP
X-cff-LastScanner: footer

Since V7.008 I see the following in the mail headers:

X-CTCH-RefID: str=0001.0A0B0201.46E96079.0085,ss=1,fgs=0
X-cff-SpamScore: 0(/)
X-cff-SpamReport: ----- ----- Message is unknown to the spam scanner.
X-cff-LastScanner: footer

Is this of the change of version of SA (Spam Assassin)?
Also I don't know what the "X-CTCH-RefID" means or what's doing? Can someone explain it to me?

Also I think the SpamScore: -1.4 & SpamReport: through trusted hosts is a nicer way to show to the recipient that the mail is not spam! But that's my opinion...

It does not use bayes filter, but a fingerprinting and reputation approach asking central servers. This makes it very fast with low resource usage.

As our existing SpamAssassin scanner was no longer sufficient for detecting latest sophisticated spam techniques we have replaced it with a new engine. This engine now allows precisely detecting spam techniques like PDF or image spam by use of advanced recurrent pattern detection technology. As this technique also consumes only a fraction of the CPU power required by SpamAssassin this furthermore leads to a significant overall performance improvement.

Spam Assassin is no more as of V7.008. I think the new one is from a company called Commtouch.

So if I'm understanding it right; the SPF-records on my (external) nameservers are of no use now, am I right?

No, SPF records are still useful.

Yes, it will help prevent your domain from being spoofed if they are using SPF checks.

SPF isn't a Spam Assassin thing. It's an industry standard thing that Spam Assassin implemented. At this point, most if not all, email server products support SPF in one way or another.
