Hi,
since Monday, we're experiencing very big problems with the POP3 Proxy of our Astaro Firewall.
We're using Tobit David 6.6, which is installed on a Windows 2000 Server, which is itself a Member Server of our Windows 2000 Active Directory.
We're polling a single POP3 Mailbox on a remote POP3 Server of our provider with the David Grabbing Server. The David Grabbing Server is a POP3 Connector, which downloads emails from POP3 mailboxes and delivers the Email to our David Mailserver on Port 25.
Up until Monday everything worked as expected, when suddenly some users we're complaining that they didn't receive important Emails they we're waiting for.
It turned out that there were more than 1200 Emails sitting in the queue of our remote POP3 Mailbox even though the David Grabbing Server reported no errors and was able to connect to the Mailbox.
The problem was that it took a very long time for the Grabbing Server to download individual messages, about 3 to 5 minutes per Email.
After fiddling around a bit, restarting our Tobit Mailserver and the Astaro a couple of times, I found out that as soon as I stop the POP3 Proxy on the Astaro and then restart the Grabbing Server that everything works as expected, except for the fact that without the POP3 Proxy all the Spam is coming through on our side, which is not acceptable.
I already looked through the POP3-Proxy log on the Astaro machine but couldn't find anything.
Did anybody here already have similar problems with the Astaro POP3 Proxy, maybe in concordance with Tobit David and knows where I could start?
Thanks in advance,
Dominik
