Having problems getting SMTP proxy working correctly, hoping someone can help… Currently I have the outside MX record pointing an additional address on the external interface, with a NAT rule changing the dst ip address to the internal mail server address. The SMTP proxy is enabled but not in transparent mode, the mx domains are listed under the global section along with the internal server address, relay has the internal mail server listed, the exchange server has the firewall listed as it’s smart host. I can receive e-mails but cannot send them… If I disable the domain profile I can reply & receive mails but I cannot send new mails. In both case I do not get text in the e-mail say they have been AV checked???
Ok reconfigured my setup. Now I have MX record pointing to the external interface, the only NAT rule is the basic internal to external for internet access, no packet filters rules, SMTP gateway enabled, exchange server listed in relay tab, and in global setting. domain profile points domain to exchange server, incoming mail works, outgoing mail does not... I can see in the live log outing mail being scanned, and delivered, but not deleted, mail nevers arrives at its dst. Going to have to set up a sniffer to see what is happing on the outside network next.
