reject gone in V7?

Anybody can confirm or decline this? This is very important for Users which don´t want to use some sort of end-user-antispam-portal. Furthermore, with reject I can actually TELL the sender the mail hasn´t reached us.

I am little confused because in v6 this is absolutely no problem at all.

Hi Joerg,

V7 does not do post-DATA rejects. The reason for this change is that SMTP inline scanning does not scale beyond a certain point. When you need to handle several incoming messages at once, you can't defer scanning without causing the remote station to run into a timeout.

This is why we have moved to a model where AV and spam scanning are decoupled from the SMTP transaction.

Please note that rejects from recipient verification, RBLs, greylisting, SPF and BATV are still rejected in the SMTP phase.

I 've noticed this also.

In V6 we were using SMTP Proxy with level1:Quarataine and level2:Reject so that the mail was rejected to sender (Spam or Not) but known as not Delivered.

What would be the setting for V7 to accomplice this kind of behavure?

Do i see this wrong:
The firewall will store a Extralot of mail, possibly SPAM but you have to Manage it? Or when end-user-antispam-portal is in use, the end user has to.
The Blackhole option doesn 't look OK as an option to me....

sorry for sounding cheeky but this HAS to be fixed! We with all due respect can´t afford to handle over 25.000 spam mails per day, nor will we let our users do this. Blackhole is NOT an option because the sender HAS to know in case of a false positive.

To make my point even more clear: I´m responsible for the firewalls at many many hospitals in germany all  running v6 and v7 is ordered for one and planned for many others. If we don´t get this feature back we´ll maybe reconsider our decision to upgrade all to new v7 appliances. 

To make another point even clearer: If you REMOVE features you HAVE to tell your users. Especially if they are astraro users from the very beginning.

Joerg, you should open a official trouble ticket and make sure you let Astaro know how much money you spend with them. Hopefully that will get their attention.

There are many people who have no plans to deploy v7 yet because of the number of bugs in it and the number of features that have either been removed or changed causing a loss of functionality. No other major Astaro update in the past has been like this, and we have been using Astaro since v4.
