question re SMTP proxy and need for packet filtering

Hi - at what point does the SMTP proxy (when enabled) pick up incoming SMTP (port 25) traffic? My Linksys router forwards this incoming traffic to the external address of the Astaro (192.168.0.2). My internal address (gateway address) of Astaro is 192.168.168.168. Does the SMTP proxy listen on 192.168.0.2 or on the internal address? If it's the latter, do I need a packet filtering rule to allow incoming port 25 traffic to pass from 192.168.0.2to 192.168.168.168?

You don't need packet filters for protocols handled by the proxies.

SMTP Proxy: You need to create a NETWORK Host Definition for your INTERNAL MAIL server address - ie SVRMAIL1 is 192.168.10.5
Then create a DOMAIN routing rule to allow the DOMAIN to be routed to that HOST see attached jpg ...

The Proxy LISTENS on the INITIAL EXTERNAL Interface, then the PROXY routes to the definition.
MAIL goes back out the FIRST EXTERNAL interface (thre one with the GATEWAY)

Also allow RELAY in the SMTP proxy to be ONLY from the MAIL Server (s) HOST definitions.
