rejected RCPT

Hello,

SMTP-Proxy (ASG220, Ver 6.303) has the following entry:

2006:12:30-07:41:17 et1fw exim[30110]: 2006-12-30 07:41:17 H=(pistache.dromadaire.net) [212.73.212.133] F= rejected RCPT : 212.73.212.133 is not allowed to send mail from this address or use this HELO string

and the mail-sender gets:

Unknown user: name@customer.com
RCPT TO generated following response:
550-212.73.212.133 is not allowed to send mail from this address or use this 550 HELO string

The specified user exists on the mailserver. What can cause this reply?

The message doesn't say it's a problem with the user.
It seems to be a problem with the sender's IP:


dromadaire.net  MX preference = 1, mail exchanger = vanille.dromadaire.net



dromadaire.net  nameserver = dns1.namebay.com

dromadaire.net  nameserver = dns2.namebay.com

vanille.dromadaire.net  internet address = 212.73.212.147

dns1.namebay.com        internet address = 80.247.64.131

dns2.namebay.com        internet address = 212.37.192.151

The valid mail exchanger has a different IP adress than the server pistache.dromadaire.net which is sending the mail.
Do you have SPF enabled ? Post some details of the SMTP proxy config.
