Mail will not flow

We have an astaro 220 firewall, using the SMTP proxy with no NAtting rules or packet filters.  I can not get mail to flow no matter what I do.  I have set the filters on low, turned off the filters, setup NAT rules, packet rules with the SMTP proxy off. I think it is a DNS problem.  The old watchguard firewall deliveres mail thru fine.  I have checked the MX record and the A record-everthing there is OK. has anyone ever run into this same problem.

    You are going about the whole thing the hard way. Set your dns server to point to your ISP, or you can use internal dns server (if you want internal name resolution). Define your internal mail server under definitions, turn on the smtp proxy,add your internal mail server in allow relay from, put in the name of the domains that the proxy should answer to and thats it. 

    No need to tinker with any of the NAT/packet filter rules for the smtp service to work as it bypasses all the rules besides dnat. Read the manual it explains all this in detail.
