SMTP Error 541

Hi,
I have a problem sending mails to one of our customers. I get Mail delivery failed  errors. Below is the exact error message of the remote mailer:

SMTP error from remote mailer after end of data:
host foo.bar.de [IP Removed]: 541 Internet Security Systems' Proventia(TM) intrusion prevention appliance blocked forwarding of message.

I talked to their admin, and he told me that they dont use Proventia at all. Now the question is, can it be possible that this error comes from my Astaro?

  • Perhaps their ISP or maybe their Mail Host (some companies are using remote hosting to filter their SPAM, etc. nowadays) is doing this.  Do a NSLOOKUP on the person's domain, look at their MX records... that will tell the tale right there.  If the MX record doesn't point to an IP that they have on their ISP connection, chances are good it's a problem with their mail filtering / hosting service.
