Problems Recieving SMTP

Hi,

I am currently running Astaro V6.302.  We have an SBS 2003 server sat behind our Astaro box.

On Saturday afternoon our SBS box crashed and ever since we have not been recieving our SMTP mail although sending is not a problem.

I realise this looks like a problem with the SBS box but thought it would be a good time to check I have the SMTP settings configured correctly.

At present we have our Exchange server pointed at mail.ourdomain.com with  Packet Filter & NAT/MASQ rules in place on Astaro to forward all SMTP traffic that hits the external address of the Astaro box directly to the Exchange server.

Is there a better way to do this?  I would think using Astaro as a smarthost or something would be more suitable.

Any input would be appreciated

    You are using DNAT to forward all your smtp to exhange and not the smtp proxy? The smtp proxy will make your life a lot easier and it will stop a great number of spam messages by enabling rbls.

    As far as testing the exchange box, open telnet your.exchange.box 25 from internal LAN (where it is not filtered) and see if it replies to your request (something like 220 your.exchange.box Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, ready). If does then the problem is in one of your dnat rules, which is more likely since outgoing mail is working.
