Update 6.301 and no performance

Hey there,

As of last weekend we upgraded ASG from 6.300 to 6.301, but it gave us huge performance problems. The system was loaded to over 400 of it's normal (around 0.5) A system with two CPU's can accept a load of maximum 4 per. CPU, in our case 8, but 400? It's like it can't keep up. Again I come back to the uninstall feature of the patch, as of this I needed to reinstall the complete system as the system was very unstable and kept dying. We are now back in version 6.300 again.

Any ideas why 6.301 can't handle the load with same performance?

    Have you tried clearing the HTTP cache? Turn off caching, then clear HTTP proxy cache. Then turn it on again. Hopefully it'll help.

    HTTP cache? I'm not using HTTP proxy or anything, it's only running as SMTP gateway and doesn't use any other features.

    We're using SMTP proxy on our ASG too and one thing to note is to turn off DoS protection (when turned on, there's a limit of concurrent session ASG can handle) and add the SMTP server under performance tuning (Intrusion Protection >> Advanced). Probably good idea to investigate the actual process causing high CPU utilization by looking Reporting >> Advanced >> System Information >> Process List.
