This may sound "bass ackwards" but I have a client that has Exchange Server 2003 standard. The public IP on the firm DSL service is NOT the MX record. Mail is hosted by a third party and they POP out to the mail server using a POP3 widget, which delivers the mail to the Exchange server for distribution. The widget is configured for all users and performs multiple POP requests for each user. Clunky, I know....
My question is, will ASL POP3 Proxy either replace the widget or work in concert with it to aid in mail delivery?
And if so, how can I implement it?
I have pressed the firm to switch their service so that the public IP IS the MX record thereby simplifying mail delivery but they are SLOW to respond.
Thanks for any insight.
