reverse dns

i have problems with sending emails to aol.com accounts. aol servers are asking for reverse dns lookup. how can i make this possible. im using asl as smtp proxy. do i have to enter something in dns proxy?

    • First, you have to establish which DNS server(s) are authoritative for your domain. Go to an online WHOIS and see which are the authoritative DNS servers. (This is regulated by your Registrar, and you can instruct them who to have responsibility for managing your DNS -choose wisely; if you're going to do it, read up on what's involved before you take on such a responsibility).  Knowing what IP address(es) are your domain's DNS (authoritative) server(s) will tell you where the change has to be made.

    • Once that is determined, you have to have a reverse lookup record entered in that/those DNS server(s). These records are called "in-addr.arpa" records. If the DNS server is being managed by your ISP for instance, you will call them up to have them make in-addr.arpa entires for your existing MX (Mail Exchanger) DNS entries. If it turns out that your Astaro box is acting as authoritative DNS for your domain, repost here to find out how to make these entries in Astaro...

    Hi SecApp,

    doesn't matter i rather think it's quite cool, that questions are answered  within 1 hour and even twice !!
    So that means this forum is really worth to visit and the members are willing to share knowledge and help each other !!
