after a certain downtime of the internal mail server the astaro stopped the delivery to it.
After the mailserver coming up again, outbound mails worked, inbound mails to be catched by the smtp conten filter worked, delivery of normal mails to the mail server did not work.
The knowledge base article says:
If the mailserver could not be reached by the firewall for a period of time, the mailserver is listed in a lock-list to prevent the firewall from hammering the internal side with mail repeatedly, and to queue the mail for delivery once the server is again responding. The mailserver will be removed from that list automatically, but this can take up to 4 hours. This is to prevent ASL from re-connecting too often.
The lock will release automatically after some hours however to remove that lock-list manually, type the following command on the console:
Solution:
Astaro V4.x Firewalls:
rm /var/chroot-mail/smtp/spool/db/*
Astaro V5.x Firewalls:
rm /var/chroot-smtp/spool/db/*
My Question now: if I remove those files as suggested in the solution, do I also delete the mails currently in the queue or not ? There were several hundred mails "parked" in the proxy content manager.
Currently the 4 hours are over and the processing of the mails has started. But I need an answer for the next time the mail server comes down. Waitin 4 hours after restarting the server is not really an option.
Or is there a possibilitiy to bring down that timeout from 4 hours to let us say 20 minutes ?
Kind regards
Christo
