Aveserver???

What the heck is the aveserver? Notification System tells me, this service had to be restared. Three times. One hour interval. Upgraded to 5.100 yesterday...
Anybody knows or has the same prob?

Last notification mail says System Load is 42.48!!!
CPU graph stopped 6 hours ago! Before that it rised from 0 to 8 in half an hour! Memory usage is also 100MB more than normal...
Network graph stopped at the same time as CPU graph.

aveserver is the virus scanner binary. Have a look, if the virus scanner is running. Do you see any entries in the logfiles (up2date.log, selfmon.log). Possibly a corrupt pattern causes the restart.

Which process needs so much CPU on your system. Please have a look with the command 'top'. This will show you the process name.

TOP: I got like one million weed processes running.

And in the WebAdmin Process List are even more mrpopper processes running at 0 percent CPU, but 9 percent MEM...

The Up2Date Log doesn't show any problems... Selfmon just says, that aveserver is restarted.

CPU usage exploded again yesterday! Only stopping the POP3 Proxy did return it to normal level again (see attachment).

We get a lot of empty Mailer Daemon mails, when that happens...

Has anyone a similar error?

We use the SUSE OpenExchange Server 4.1 as mailserver. This pops through the ASL POP3 Proxy...

Nope. The POP3 logfile just shows normal incoming messages. The selfmon logfile is emtpy. No errors...

Hi there!

Same happend here at my ASL5 Box with 5.100. The strange behavior started after up2date to 5.100, after the update some pop3-accounts couldn´t be reached through mrpopper. I´ve to restart the box again and again...
The biggest crash happed on the 14.12.04 after some huge emails are being downloaded through the pop3-proxy. The memory and swap usage exploded and the cpu load was down to zero. The ASL5 was not reachable through Webadmin, only a shutdown via ssh brought things to normal...
For now i keep the pop3-proxy off but this can´t be the soulution...
