SMTP Proxy holding mail for 3-4 hours??

Hi all,
Is anyone out there having this problem? I can manually check my mailserver and see messages there at 5 pm. At between 8 to 9 pm they are finally delivered by the SMTP proxy.
Also, I am having a problem forwarding messages from forms on my webserver out of the network.
Any suggestions?
Using:
ASL 5.027

Possibly the mailserver is not reachable and the mail will rest in the spool directory until the nex try. What about the SMTP log, any entries regarding that issue?

I upgraded to 5.10 and the problem has vanished - life is good!
