SMTP Proxy not turning off?

Hi all,
Running 5.022.
My Content Filter report is showing emails being processed today by SMTP Proxy even though I turned off the proxy service yesterday. In addition, I am having problems sending to an AOL address. Very Strange! The error says:

 "deferred: Connection timed out with mailin-02.mx.aol.com.
Warning: message still undelivered after 4 hours
Will keep trying until message is 5 days old"

Has anyone seen this?

    that's normal behaviour. The smtp daemon is still active after disabling the proxy (it disables the packet filters needed to access the proxy from outside only). Astaro needs smtp for its notification system. Mails  still sitting in the queue will be processed until the timers are expired.

    Hey cyclops
    Is there a way to speed up the process? Forms are being submitted from a website on my internal webserver, showing up in real time in the database and not appearing in an email until 2-3 hours later.
