Hi out there,
i mess around since 5.12 with a Problem.
The behaviour until 5.12 was the following:
A Message 60 MB comes in and stays over 20 Minutes or longer in the Proxy Content Manager.
In the SMTP Logfile i see that it comes in...then after a while it tries to send but spoolfile is locked...then after 15 Minutes more it gets processed.
There might be a timer to retransmit the queue???
The Customer and me wondered why it takes so long to process this Mail.
This was Past.
Now updated up to 5.021.
We got the following behaviour now:
Mail comes in and before it is shown in the log or proxy conent manager the CPU goes up to 75% (Exim+ weed + aveserver) for a longer time ...depending of size of mail ,then it sits in the Proxy Content Manager and the firewall shows only 5% Cpu....it takes one Minute per Processed 5 MB's (20 MB Mail takes 4 Minutes or 100 mb mail takes 20 Minutes or longer ) to leave the Proxy Content Manager.
Sometimes i see Spoolfile locked messages during this time for this ID..
QUESTION:
When exactly is the MSG Scanned/SPAMD'ed ?? in the Incoming Stream or during the time it stays in the Proxy Content Manager ??
Why does it takes so long until the Mail goes out of the Proxy Content manger ?
What happens in this time ?? (Firewall plays Ping-Pong, Snooker ???)
Because i wonder about the CPU usage only when the mail arrives in the incoming stream and not during it stays in the Proxy Content Manager !!?!??!
Clearify this would help a lot.
I use a HA installation with 2xCompaq DL320 P4 2.6 GHZ / 1GB Ram / 80Mb HD
SMTP Proxy + Virus Scanning + RBL + SPAM Protection
I recognized a bit improvement on the processing time on such huge emails since 5.12 but i still need to know what happens...would help.
Thanks
B
