Virus protection not so secure!

I just did a GIF virus email test. And Astaro only blocked 4 out of the 10 emails containing malicious code. Also after I added the file extentions to the file extension filter list, it STILL let them through.

    well most of these tests test flaws in IE based programs..not email..Astaro is not going to look for every flaw that takes advantage of somethig that is inherent to bad softtware design.  


    None of hte exploits tested here are virii they are exploits of IE..

    Yes you are right. Most of the tests were exploits on Outlook not viruses. One thing I tried was a test from Virustest.org
    On their tests Astaro caught all of the viruses except for the password protected zip file attachment. I guess i will just have to filter out .zip.

    When will Astaro be able to scan password protected zip files? 

    I should have read the exploits of GFI tests before writing this post but on the other hand it lead me to test more and found that ASL does block almost all of the viruses thrown at it. You just have to block certain file extensions.

    If you can figure out a way to to it efficiently, you'll make a lot of money!

    They're password protected for a reason.

    It might be possible to block all password-protected zip files though, but allow regular ZIPs.
