Pop through ASL 5.010 not working at all.

Hi peeps

I'm somewhat new to the ASL product, having just installed the Homeuser edition a few days ago. After a little learning curve and some sweat, I have decent network integration with my ADS server (Win2k3), samba shares, and multiple desktops and laptops. The problem I'm having is that none of the computers are able to access an external pop. 

I've read through the forums and have seen numerous issues using the Pop3 proxy so I do not have this enabled and still I have no pop access. 

In desperation, I created a rule stating (any Pop3 any allow) and enabled logging. The content log doesn't even show a hit against the Pop rule. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't another rule which is forcing all external to internal connections to drop or not be allowed. If anyone can shed some light on this or on how they currently have a successful pop connection to an external pop source, it would be greatly appreciated.

    After a little more troubleshooting, the issue appears to be related to the DNS proxy. While I am able to browse the web, I am unable to perform nslookups inside my internal network. (lookups do work from the firewall)

    Again, I do not have any implicit deny rules in place. Actually, the rules are extremely laxed. Even so, my internal network clients can not ping/telnet the ISP pop/smtp servers do to not being able to translate the isp's mail server names. (these are reachable from the firewall whether by name or ip)  Any help anyone could provide would be extremely appreciated. Thanks

    i had a similar problem that my clients could not get pop mail from external. just disabled pop3 proxy for the time beeing to get the mails. offcourse its not safe but need the mails. it works. wait for the next update. it will be fixed soon. astaro is working hard on it.
