[5.008] Proxy stops working (or something else)

Hi,

sometimes the pop3 proxy stops working, or the scanner, i don't know.
Igetmail (my mail fetcher) gives me from one minute to the other the follwoing error message:

>>> 19.05.2004 12:06:44 error   ERROR - Cannot connect to server customerserver.net, possible incorrect IP address or server not responding.

Then I have tried to restart the dns-proxy, the pop-proxy, the virus-scanner and the spam-protection.
After i did restart the pop-proxy i get the follwoing error:

>>> 19.05.2004 15:59:21 POP3>>  RETR 1
19.05.2004 15:59:22 >  QUIT

Then I disabled the spam-protection and the mail fetching worked again.
I had this problem two times the last week and this week for the first time.

I have searched the logfiles, but found nothing usefull. Where do  you thing should I look?

  • I'm having a very similar problem here with 5.009. We only noticed this problem within the last couple of weeks so we are assuming that a recent update is causing the issue.

    When using the Thunderbird 0.6 mail client the following error appears on some occasions:

    The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server blahblah.com responded: scanner error: Scanner error.

    Please, anyone with any ideas? These intermittant errors are quite annoying.

  • STF this is one of many issues with the pop3 proxy..you can reboot and wait for it to have issues or turn it off until an up2date is released for it.
